Phang Nga Bay
Phang Nga Bay is one of the world’s most astonishingly beautiful locations where little has changed in thousands of years. Towering limestone cliffs, mysterious caves, ancient mangroves and sea-village life await your discovery. In every direction there’s a memorable postcard photo, at all times of the day. In the 21st century the marine national park has opened up to tourism with multiple opportunities to visit, explore and stay in this remarkable natural phenomenon. The national park contains 42 islands, all unique, clustered together to provide a stunning backdrop for your voyage aboard the ‘House of Fragrance’.
The most famous of the islands in the bay is the so-called James Bond Island (Ko Tapu) a limestone monolith jutting out of the bay which formed the backdrop for the James Bond Movie, ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’. In another movie, 'Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith', Phang Nga Bay was filmed as the planet ‘Kashyyyk'. 'The Hangover II' movie was also shot partly around Phang Nga Bay.
